Game of Thrones, the third season confirms the breaking of all records.
The second episode of Game of Thrones airs tonight. If you haven’t watched the preview, do it before the following spoilers…
To watch this episode tonight, you have to be a subscriber to HBO. The success of the serie is such as many people are not waiting for the local broadcast. Pirates of the first episode of the third season broke BitTorrent swarm records.
The interesting consequence is that doesn’t seem to bother HBO. Michael Lombardo, HBO programming president sees it as a compliment and consider it does not hurt DVD sales.
Usually, companies like HBO blame piracy for their revenues. But HBO seems to confirm what many have asserted. If you have a great product, people will support you. Game of Thrones does have a lot of fans, and they are aware that if HBO is not satisfied by the numbers, they will discontinue the show. No one wants it. Most of us certainly first saw each episode online, but according to HBO, many have bought the DVDs. HBO succeeded to come to a win-win situation, taking advantage of the piracy, including it in the marketing strategy.
A few hours remain until the show, lets be prepared, should it be to turn the TV on or to grab the torrent. But remember, if you really enjoy the show, get the DVDs.
If you have missed the first two seasons, You can get them from Amazon, should it be the The Complete First Season or The Complete Second Season. In the UK, you can find a nice pack of both seasons.
But the best is still to get the books…
